Miss Cuddles with bling

I have not been up to crafting this week as I managed to lock my neck up completely. Rather painful I might add, if you tried to move your head to the side it felt like the top of your head was going to blow off. Nurofen have been my new best friend the past 4 days and my new recliner my favourite spot.

So with that in mind the card this week is one I sent Savannah last term. Savannah misses her cat Cuddles while she is away at school so I tried to make a card that looked like Miss Cuddles. I didn't get it right but Savannah was tickled pink with her card anyway.

Now here's Miss Cuddles.....

I did warn you that the card didn't resemble the cat but at least it made Savannah smile. She looks forward to care packages from home and loves the cards that she gets sent.

Congratulations Big brother

There is a little boy that comes into work regularly to see me and when he comes in I always ask him how many pockets he has. He's not quite three and is adorable. He always goes away with a balloon for each pocket and one for each hand. I've even seen him in town and he always asks if I have any balloons. Thanks to young Xavier I now carry balloons in my handbag and am commonly known as the balloon lady.

Xavier has recently become a big brother and I thought with all the fuss of a new baby he might be feeling a little left out. I decided to get him a bucket of lego and make a card just for him to say congratulations on becoming a big brother. I always wanted a big brother.

What boy wouldn't love the Dinosaur stamp set. I stamped up the images, then coloured them in, cut them out and popped 2 on the card with dimensionals and glued 2 onto the envelope. I also popped two balloons inside the card as I'd hate him to think that I had forgotten that he enjoys them

Sun bonnet Saturday

Today I thought I would share with you some little bonnets that I have made. Now you will have seen several versions of these over the internet but I thought you might like to know how to make one. They are perfect for a gift for a special female and could contain anything from jewellery to sweets. Here's how we make them.....

You need to cut the following pieces

1. Big shot - scallop circle in card
2. Big shot - clear circle in DSP
3. 2x 2 3/8" scallop ciircles (only one shown in the photo)
4. Big Shot - 2 leaves from Island Floral in green card
5. 3x 1 3/8" scallop circles in card
6. An empty Stampin' Up storage container
7. 2 pieces of ribbon (one to be wider than the other)

Attach your DSP circle to the scallop circle (this will be the base)

Remove labelling from the plastic container.

Glue to the inside bottom of the container 1 of the large scallop circles you have punched.

Attach the thicker ribbon to the outside of the plastic container and layer the thinner piece over the top.

Attach the second 2 3/8" scallop to the top of the plastic container.

Fold the 2 leaves in half lengthwise and feed them thru your crimper.

Now take the 3 small scallop ovals and feed them thru the crimper (don't lay them on top of each other but put them side by side as shown

See how the leaves look once they have been put thru the crimper, they actually look like leaves. Now turn the scallop circles 90 degrees and feed them all through the crimper again. Do this 2 more times turning each time you put them thru. You have now broken the fibres in the cardstock and you will be able to split the cardstock and end up with 6 circles. You will need to split the card slowly.

Once you have split all the cardstock put the 6 layers together and punch a hole in the middle to put a brad thru. Cut at the petals all the way thru to the brad

Attach the leaves with either glue dots or dimensionals over where the ribbon joins. Scrunch the flower so that it pops up and becomes 3 dimensional (sorry this is my term as I am not sure what it is actually called). The easiest way is to hold it in the palm of your hand and start to close your hand and the flower just sort of scrunches up. Attach it over where the leaves are joined.

Given that these are so easy I thought I would make a few more but each with a slight variation on the previous one

This one I sponged the edges of the card after I had split it and stamped one of the delicate doiles stamps on the top and punched it out with a 1 3/4 " punch. I think Jojo gets this one as wisteria wonder is her favourite colour at the moment.

Gift box suitable for a bridemaids gift

Well it appears that I am still in wedding mode colours. I needed a gift box for a special someone. I liked the flower in the Creative elements stamp set and deicded to paper tole it and pop an antique brad in the middle to finish it off. The box is made using the pillow box die and has had all the edges sponged after I have used the vintage wheel to cover the background.

Very simple and quick to make. The envelope was decorated using the lined image in the Creative Elements atmps set (absolutely perfect for a soft and subtle background)

Wedding invites version 1

With only 8 months yesterday till the Mike and Toni's wedding it was time to start designing some invites. Its quite some time since Toni came into the craft room and she had no idea on what was there (Apparently my collection has grown. Now I have no idea how on earth that happened. The aliens must have landed and left me all these wonderful things to entertain myself with ;-)

Luckily Toni had an idea of colours that she wanted so crumb cake, black and very vanilla it was. That was the easy bit. With notepad in hand a list was made of what was required to be made - menu, invites, cake box, table numbers. Now remember this is version 1, this is NOT the final items. We have a new catalogue in September and minis before the wedding so I am sure that they will be changed between now and then.

First up was the invite, I made 2 different versions. One was 4" by 4" the other A5 size. The heart stamp was in the last mini and I thought it was gorgeous so of course it had to be added to the stamp collection. :-)

Cake boxes were next. For these we used the Box 2 die and the flowers from Vintage Vogue and added the 2 tags and a pearl. Super quick and really effective.

For the table numbers, it was one of the tags from the 2 tags die set, the vintage wheel, a small stamp to put over the 1" circle, a number from the alphabets die and a pearl. I think in looking at this today the black number needs to go and be done in crumb cake and heavily sponged so it stands out.

So I guess the idea of starting to play around with ideas is that by Xmas I will have the perfect invite for the perfect wedding.

VSA fundraiser

Hi everyone
Just a quick update that I will be doing another fundraiser for VSA next month and this time its an all day event. We will start at 9 and go through till 12, break for lunch and then go from 1 through till 4. The cost for the day is $45. I am also running a raffle of Stampin' Up products at $5 a ticket (photo to come at the end of the month) and I am looking forward to an awesome day out. If you would like a ticket in the raffle email me and I will give you my bank details. I am happy to post/courier the raffle prize anywhere in NZ so just because you don't live in Wanganui doesn't mean you will miss out.

I will be running this type of fundraiser each term to support my son Aaron and the work he and VSA are doing in Papua New Guinea.

For those that haven't met my son I thought I would pop a photo up of him, its always nice to see the face behind the fundraiser.

So many ways to use the framelits dies.......

I have found lots of different ways to use the new framelits dies to make quick and easy gifts and of course cards with the matching stamp set. As money gets tighter in many households people are looking for ways to make unique gifts and save money at the same time.

I have to confess that I love homemade soap, its not just the wonderful blend of colours but the divine smell. I use the largest framelit die to make a gift holder to pop the soap in, embossed it thru the Big Shot, added an embellishment on the front and tied some ribbon thru the handles I had made with a punch. A very cheap gift which only cost me one sheet of A4 cardstock, a button  and a small pice of ribbon and of course the soap.

The Trade Aid shop have yummy soap for $2.99 so the gift can cost you less than $4 all up. For the Trade Aid soaps we used sticky strip to hold the bottom of the box in, for the one in the photo I used Tombow glue to hold the soap in as it did not come in a box.

Next we made the lip balm holder shown in an earlier post but covered our lip balm in the new Twitterpated paper (absoluetly gorgeous I have to say) and used a punch to make a handle. Its also one of the papers that is on the special this month where you buy 3 and get the 4th one free. This special goes to 31 May and does not include specialty papers.

Next was card made using white cardstock. Now everyone has plenty of this but many of us never think to make a white card. Again I used the matching stamp but cut the blue framelit out of a scrap of cardstock, coloured in my stamped image with a blender pen and my stamp pads, added a scrap of the new ruffled ribbon in the mini and 2 pearls and hey presto a simple quick and easy card.
